Turkey's cold-rolled coil imports decreased slightly in July, mainly due to the slowdown in cooperation with traditional suppliers such as CIS and EU. China has become the main source of products for Turkish consumers, accounting for more than 40% of the stew per month. Although imports had performed strongly and extremely, the results in July also lagged behind last year.
According to the data of Turkish Bureau of Statistics (tuik), the purchase volume of imported cold rolled products by local companies in July decreased by 44% year-on-year to 78566 tons. This is the third consecutive month of decline. Russia is the main driver of the negative trend, with shipments down 67% year-on-year to about 18000 tons, mainly because they focus on domestic market demand.
At the same time, China once again ranked first in the list of cold coil suppliers in July, providing about 33000 tons, or nearly 42% of the total, while it was almost zero in July 2020.
The import quantity of foreign materials has declined in recent months, resulting in a decrease in the total quantity in July 2021. According to the Turkish Bureau of statistics, Turkey's cold steel imports decreased by 5.8% to 534539tons. Although the output decreased by 29.2% year-on-year, Russia still maintained its position as a major supplier, accounting for 37% of the total, or about 198000tons.
